Scotrail to run even more trains, despite strikes

Thu 11 Mar 2010

Train operator Scotrail has announced that it is to run even more trains than ever before this Saturday, to ensure that rugby fans can get to the Scotland v England RBS 6 Nations game, despite planned strike action.

Scotrail have said that they have set a target of running 100 per cent of services, aiming to beat their previous record of 93 per cent during strikes, which was set recently, on March 1st this year, which was also during an RMT strike.

Steve Montgomery, managing director of ScotRail, said: “It will be business as usual. Our contingency plans are such that we intend to run the vast majority of services.”

The company is keen to emphasize that it is still ready for meaningful talks at any times with rail unions, but that it has also managed to ruin at least nine out of every ten trains, despite strike action going ahead in the past.
