The key purpose of the Investment Projects function is the efficient delivery of renewals and enhancements through improved specification, better utilisation of resources and the professional control and management of projects. It’s focus is to renew and enhance the rail infrastructure to deliver our commitments for the future through increased efficiency and value for money.

As a Planning Assistant you will assist Project Planners, Principal project Planner and Project Managers by developing, updating and inputting project plans into project support systems. You will also be required to seek updated information and prepare reports as and when required.

A key part of the role is supporting the team producing reports for the periodic reporting cycle.

As a Planning Assistant you will assist the Project Planner by obtaining resourcing and cost forecasts to support investment plans. You will also be required to load these forecasts into planning systems as required and monitor progress to the plan seeking feedback from Project personnel and make changes as required.
You will also have responsibility to input the planning issues into the project's critical issues risk log and update the risk register as directed.

You will play a key role in supporting the Project Planner by monitoring and auditing contracor plans, seeking information from suppliers as necessary, including the review of progress for payment purposes.

You will also support the Programme Controls Manager in the monthly reporting cycle, producing reports from P3e and Oracle and manipulating in Excel.

This role will also provide a training post to develop into Project Planners.
