The Operations and Customer Services function operates the railway day-to-day. It delivers train paths, timetabling and train movements to enable safe performance and meet the needs of our customers. The function owns and manages our business relationships with the passenger and freight operators and external commercial stakeholders. The functional customer focused organisation provides clear ownership of operating responsibilities for all customers and stakeholders. The area delivery units are the building blocks of engineering and operations excellence.

As a Mobile Operations Manager your role operates within the Area General Managers team. This team manages a specific geographical area of the country within the Route. The Area General Managers team is responsible for delivering the management of operational safety and ensuring train service delivery on a day to day basis.

About the role

The Mobile Operations Manager is a vital role in managing front line response to real time incidents in order to keep the railway operational. The role requires you to be self reliant and to react to failure situations quickly and in a calm manner.

You’ll be expected to take the lead in managing your duties and incidents, which means you’ll be assertive and in command of many different situations. You’ll then be required to initiate investigations into incidents and to provide the relevant reports.

You’ll be responsible for assisting the Local Operations Manager with the management of all safety of the line requirements. This means effectively communicating the requirements and importance of your role to colleagues within Operations & Customer Services and other industry partners.

Experience of prioritising and delivery of workload?
Good decision making skills?
A full, clean UK driving licence?

This role involves days, nights and weekend working.

This position is safety critical and therefore is subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of relevant medical.

If you are shortlisted for this position, you will be required to take a compulsory communications test.

If successful you will be required to complete a 7 week course at one of our state of-the-art training centres at Leeds or Watford.
