What is the Role?

This is a client-based role, working within the Projects Department supporting the implementation of projects of an electrical power distribution bias.

For example you will work on projects that impact the power supply to the communication system, the signalling systems, and building services associated with station upgrade works.

80% of the role will be associated with the assessing the scope, scale and design of the infrastructure project; therefore you need to have a strong design appreciation and ability with the knowledge to assess the impact on the Infrastructure.

One particular task is to become the internal champion of a Uninterruptible Power Supply project, taking accountability and ownership of the project, from concept through to delivery.

- Lighting protection
- Building Services
- Lifts & Escalators
- Air Conditioning and Ventilation
- Sub Station Power Distribution
- Railway experience - SCADA, Traction and Power Supply
- Experience of working on site and commissioning work
- Familiarity with the safety systems
- Earthing & Bonding
- Critical Signalling Loading
- Interface between all the systems
- Communication Systems Power Distribution

You will take complete ownership of the design process and the design approval process seeing the separate projects through to completion.

Ultimately, when the main contractor is undertaking constructions works, you will protect the client`s asset and ensure that the railway is returned fit for operational purposes.

Consequently you must have the experience, training and qualifications to confidently manage and oversee delivery packages of work.

Your technical Mechanical and Electrical experience, could come from a variety of backgrounds, such as High and Low Voltage rail systems, Rail Escalators, Lifts, Station E & M works, Power to track systems etc.

In addition to supporting the general running of the railway, there are a number of major project interfaces with all of the Rail Transportation Projects in London, this is not just limited to Olympics and Crossrail associated works

You will be responsible for managing and working with the sub contractor who will deliver the actual works. You will need to work closely with the contractor, as the client representative, to ensure that the work is delivered on time and to budget.

You need to be professional qualified as an Engineer, preferably chartered.
