The Role
Geotechnical Design Engineer – York
The role is to act and advise on geotechnical aspects of civil engineering designs for rail and infrastructure projects throughout the UK. Operating as part of the Geo-Environmental and Site Services team, you will be working with other engineering disciplines on all aspects of engineering design. You will be responsible for:
•Assessing, and/or designing geotechnical aspects of civil engineering projects in accordance with clients’ requirements, within teams or alone.?
•Achieving the targets agreed with the project co-ordinator regarding the effective delivery of projects to current engineering and safety standards, within agreed timescales and budgets.?
•Applying procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the operations of CIS
The successful candidate will need to have the following skills or experience:
•Proven post-graduate geotechnical engineering design office or site experience within medium to large size engineering consultancy.
•Qualified to Msc level (or equivalent) in Geotechnical related discipline
•Good understanding of geotechnical aspects of civil engineering design & construction principles and standards
•Experience of earthwork & cutting assessments including stabilisation techniques and erosion control techniques
•Familiarity with industry-standard software packages
•Understanding of safety standards and the safety implications of working practices
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
•Highly motivated and adaptable with solution orientated approach
