Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will ensure production targets, quality standards and safety requirements are achieved through the execution of the production plan and through the efficient management of resources. You will be responsible for ensuring trains are delivered on time in a safe, clean and fully functional condition to our customers.

Principle Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1.Manage a production team, including monitoring and controlling production on a shift - by - shift basis as per business requirements.
2.Ensure that accountability for production is clearly defined and delegated.
3.Identify people requirements for budgeted fixed workload ensuring flexibility and high levels of productivity are achieved.
4.Manage organisational change in order to optimise working practices and thus ensure a productive workforce.
5.Ensure all production meets the safety and quality requirements of internal standards, customer specifications and rail safety standards.
6.Monitoring working practices and environment to ensure that people and facilities meet the mandatory and/or statutory requirements.
7.Identify training and other resource needs to facilitate production in the most effective way.
8.Ensure work is performed in a safe, effective manner and in accordance with the H&S at work act, rules and regulations, railway group standards.
9.Review work plans with the planning department to ensure daily production targets are met as effectively and efficiently as possible.
10.Monitoring of staff performance through the use of in-process checks and finished work inspections.
11.To ensure all non production events are effectively managed and to ensure a smooth operation of the depot on a shift by shift basis.
12.Ensure safety standards are maintained through use planned general inspections.

Essential Skills , Experience and Knowledge.

1.Minimum of a HNC in an engineering field or equivalent.
2.Management experience of large groups of staff 10+.
3.Preferably experience in fleet and/or maintenance operations and planning role.
4.Technical knowledge of relevant traction and rolling stock.
5.Knowledge and understanding of Network Rail rules and regulations.
6.Understanding of railway depot and railway industry operations preferable.
7.Understanding of Railway safety practices and statutory H&S legislation.
8.Carry out any incident/accident investigations as required.
9.Risk assessments.
