Due to continued growth and recent success on a number of Rail projects a planner is now required for a Civil Engineering Contractor in the North West
The Job: The planner will play a vital role within the planning department, assisting the planning manager when necessary. You will be expected to challenge the current methods and systems and to further develop the role and understanding of planning across the business. Working very closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers and engineering delivery teams, your role will be involved in all aspects of the project delivery process. An involvement from initial tendering, through delivery to project close out, you will act as a key part of the project team.
The planner will advise project teams of adverse project performance and any remedial actions.
Advise on resource allocation and leveling must be offered.
Mentoring and coaching of junior members of the team and to assist in the work allocation of the planning department.
An involvement in company wide resource forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives to improve the way projects are delivered.
To be an integral part of the business and to work closely with all members of project delivery teams, to advise and coach them on 'day to day' work planning and resource management.
The Person: Experience of working in a rail/infrastructure environment Primavera P3 / P6 experience
A well rounded, perceptive individual with a strong, balanced understanding of technical and commercial considerations.
A proven team player, who will be a key member of the planning team and instrumental in ensuring that planning remains a flexible, adaptable and responsive function within the business.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record of successful project delivery and strong teamwork skills. You will have experience of the complete project life-cycle from tendering to close out. An analytical thinker, with a pro-active attitude, that identifies any potential improvements either within the project team or planning department. An appreciation of risk management techniques, with skills in identifying and assessing project risks. An ability to manage your own workload, deliver to timescales and to report to clients and internal customers within the company. Computer literate within planning packages and the Microsoft suite of programmes
