Leading international engineering company seeks to secure the services of a materials planning / supply chain professional in the role of Project Materials Planner. This is a contract opportunity based in Hertfordshire and will see you work with various project teams across a wide spectrum of infrastructure projects. If you are a materials planning / supply chain professional with SAP and inventory control systems experience within an engineering market (ideally rail but not essential) this would be an ideal contract for you.

As Project Materials Planner you will provide a service to the project teams to ensure that identified project materials and plant are requisitioned, ordered and delivered in accordance with project timescales and delivered with the project programme using the agreed ERP and communication tools. Other duties will include:

Represents the supply chain team in front of the projects
Presents supply chain Status QCD at the appropriate meetings
Identifies risks to supply and introduces mitigation to resolve
Understands the engineering need and supports by interfacing with the nominated suppliers
Regular reviews with Project engineering and stores either at location or by electronic means based on appropriateness
Is responsible for the Lob tool and ensuring the projects use the tool in the correct way
Takes appropriate action on the LOB tool as required to ensure materials are procured
Applies processes and procedures in line with the ADM process and CMMi compliance
Ensures all materials through the ERP and WAS systems are placed in line with project needs and ensures procurement compliance to processes and procedures
Liaises with suppliers ensures materials are delivered in line with project requirements
Pro-actively manages inbound materials in line with Project milestones to ensure inventory is re-cycled in a timely manner and minimise cash impacts to the business
Reviews Inventories to ensure minimum amounts of inventory are held and project obsolete materials are correctly dispositional to ensure £0 stock holding at the project closure
Other activities as relayed by the Project Manager or Organisational manager

To be considered for the role of Project Materials Planner, candidates will have current/previous experience working with SAP and inventory control systems. You will have experience of working in safety critical engineering environments (rail industry experience ideally but not essential) accompanied with strong negotiations and communication skills.
