Engineering Standards Specialist, (Central London, contract or perm). To support the Head of Engineering in the development and implementation of a system for the management and control of the Company’s documentation systems.

Assist with evaluating standards and any proposals for changes in maintenance and repair documentation. Contribute to the implementation and operation of an electronic data management system.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering the role will not have management responsibility but you will be responsible for authorising engineering change to maintenance standards and to assets using professional engineering competence. Guidance will be sought from the Head of Engineering Services in exceptional cases.

Authorised to approve quality procedures within Engineering and to authorise clarifications and changes to other quality and safety management system documents, seeking guidance from the Head of Engineering for major changes.

• The post will support the Head of Engineering in the development and implementation of a system for the management and control of the company's technical documentation systems.
• It also assists with evaluating standards and any proposals for changes in maintenance and repair documentation and contributes to the implementation and operation of electronic data management systems.

Customers / Stakeholders
• Ensure the company has an appropriate standard of technical documentation for its rolling stock by managing the development and change to maintenance and repair schedules to remits and timescales agreed with internal customers and ensure that the company's best interests are maintained.
• Identify and assist in the development of quality procedures and instructions as necessary to ensure high levels of quality are achieved in the company's overhaul programmes.
• Provide management of the documentation systems by assisting and advising on the modification of technical documentation of agreed timescales
• Advise customers and contractors on issues relating to standards and documentation by maintaining up to date knowledge of standards and prepare advice on changes in standard.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering changes with the Asset managers and their staff by reviewing and preparing for authorisation and accepting evidence for closing actions.
• Review all items that appear on the Company RADAR and report to management of any initiatives that may affect the company.
• Develop knowledge of rolling stock TSI's.

Engineering based qualifications to degree level or chartered engineer

Evidence of relevant experience in managing rolling stock in a railway engineering and operating environment, including a substantial period of time in a position of responsibility.

Experience gained with a rail vehicle manufacturer, maintainer or operator is essential.
