Associate Technical Director
Our client is a leading International Design Consultancy with an impressive portfolio of work in the UK.
Due to their continued success in a number of sectors including infrastructure and utilities they are looking to recruit an Associate Technical Director to take a lead role in land development projects within the South East region.
The role
• To take a key lead role in Land Development projects, with emphasis on development related issues associated with provision of general infrastructure, utilities procurement (including renewable forms of energy), reviewing the impact of sustainability issues upon project design requirements (BREEAM, Code for Sustainable Homes etc), providing technical advice and overview .
• To provide technical input into the bidding process
• To build professional profile and reputation, for both yourself and your emplyer, within the industry at a local level
• To manage the delivery of specialised components of projects
• To take an active part in Professional Excellence Groups (PEGs)
• To assist in the technical development of staff, coaching and mentoring on technical issues and assisting with chartered institution membership
• To establish and consolidate relationships with clients, both during and after project completion
• To use technical knowledge to identify and realise new client opportunities
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Technical Leadership
• Keeping up to date with technical and legislative developments and seek opportunities to develop professional profile such as giving presentations to relevant conferences/meetings/professional bodies and participation in technical committees for trade organisations and standards
• Building effective and enduring relationships with other regional offices and external organisations to foster co-operation and maximise cross-sell and trade-up opportunities in relevant specialist field
• Establishing an understanding of client businesses, their drivers and competitors
• Providing technical expertise and overview to client and stakeholders and assisting clients through technical decision-making and provide alternatives options/solutions if there are changes to project objectives
• Providing reassurance, confidence and a sense of direction to both client and project team members
• Assisting in the development of talent through coaching and mentoring and through the PEGs
• Ensuring awareness of health and safety in all aspects of design and operations
Skills and experience
• Relevant degree with consulting experience
• Post graduate qualification an advantage
• Recognised leader in specialist discipline with well-established industry networks
• Proven ability to network and influence at peer levels
• Developing commercial skills
• Chartered (or equivalent) member of an appropriate professional institution
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally
