Department & how it relates to the role:
In order to achieve the level of reliability that our customers demand and deserve, our newly-established Infrastructure Maintenance function that employs 15,000 across 40 delivery units, will play a major role in delivering our vision of engineering and operating excellence for Britain’s railway. Our in-house maintenance organisation works as one single team maintaining signalling, track, and electrification using standardised, efficient processes that are committed to the achievement of our corporate goals.
The purpose of this role is to provide support to the team leader, in order to organise and motivate the team to carry out works in a safe and efficient manner. Your experience will be required to undertake inspections, faulting, maintenance and renewal work on assets as and when required. You’ll control and check the quality of work you’ve undertaken and confirm that assets are compliant with standards set out by Network Rail. You’ll implement and maintain appropriate safety arrangements for staff and contractors under your guidance, always checking staff have got the required safety knowledge and competences to carry out the duties given to them. You’ll accurately report all works that have been completed/ not completed as well as producing and maintaining records relating to your role as required. Your experience will enable you to carry out checks on vehicles, equipment and materials, checking they are fit for use, stored correctly and disposed of in accordance with company procedures.
