Department & how it relates to the role:
Telecoms Asset Management is a single, national, integrated organisation which will support core railway asset requirements, such as signalling, as well supporting the devolved routes for business voice and data services. The team are responsible for all of our telecoms assets, strategy and policy decisions including operating, maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure and delivery of the service to the customer.
The main purpose of this role is to manage and direct the Infrastructure Engineering delivery team to deliver inspection, maintenance and renewal of assets to standards. Manage activities within agreed resource levels, budget and unit cost measures to achieve safety, asset performance, cost and quality business targets. Responsible for all the physical telecom network of NR, strategy, development, standards, quality, Asset management and ownership in the routes, maintenance and around 300 people.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage the route based regional field Telecom Maintenance staff whereby all telecom platforms are maintained to standards and KPI/ SLAs are met to best in class industry levels
Put in place the process and procedures required - ticketing, action and closure of work flow with Network operations and Asset Information.
To provide the necessary Infrastructure strategy, product, architecture and standards for infrastructure build (Fibre, Copper and facilities).
To support the development and design of the physical network infrastructure and its expansion. Assist in the design and issue detailed design documentation for all changes to the NRT fibre networks.
Work with property for the design and development of customer fibre networks and issue detailed designs as required.
To work with regional and central Sales management, Finance and Business Development to identify opportunities for additional business value creation through network expansion and/or services acquisition
Manage the network infrastructure platform consisting of fibre, backbone, bandwidth, facilities Data Center space.
Responsible for effective development through acquisition of new assets and services in line with business requirements. Rationalise existing assets and services where possible to minimise network cost
Put in place and manage Route maintenance & operations and maintenance contractors, and where cost effective, own staff, whereby all components of the network are maintained (preventatively and reactively) in line with required KPIs and SLAs.
To build, forecast and manage the teams Quality Plan and Budget covering Infra budget and cash objectives, headcount, Capex and Opex (looking to capitalise time where applicable by builds and renewals)
· Provide detailed response to “Customer design Documents” for infrastructure capturing costs and risks.
Experience, skills, knowledge and competencies:
Proven track record in a highly diverse company.
Extensive knowledge of compliance frameworks.
Strong IT background and experience in managing IT related projects.
Ability to drive change and improvement.
A strong influencer; confident, persuasive, determined.
Must have excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across project teams in a diverse environment.
You must be prepared to work in a complex, diverse, multicultural team.
· Ability to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise under pressure.
