The Network Rail Vehicle Conformance Team is a group that provides rail vehicle acceptance services. This work primarily falls into the following areas:
new vehicle projects (and major upgrades), covered by the Railways Interoperability Regulations 2006 (RIR)
component (Interoperability Constituent) approvals covered by the Railways Interoperability Regulations 2006 (RIR)
minor modification and upgrades, covered by the Vehicle Acceptance Body (VAB) process under the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006
Road Rail Vehicle approvals, covered by Rail Industry Standard (RIS) RIS1530/PLT and the VAB process.
The role is to lead a team of Engineers in the assessment of conformance of new or modified rail vehicles and associated equipment with regulations and standards, assess risks posed to Network Rail Infrastructure and to carry out technical investigations.
