Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in the design and implementation of signalling systems, and will hold or be working towards IRSE Signalling Principles Designer (A, B, D or E) and Signalling Design Verifier License.

Key responsibilities will involve;
-Carry out design, design production checking, and independent checking of systems as required.
-Provide functional support and guidance to the Design Engineer(s) within the team.
-Participate in the preparation of technical details, specifications and tenders 
-Monitor the progress of works and ensure that the development, design, construction and testing requirements are met and effect remedial action when required.
- Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work in order that successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved.

Safety Engineer Key Responsibilities :

•To provide a common and auditable approach to the identification of safety requirements, their implementation, and the demonstration of compliance with those requirements, across the whole Project Portfolio.
•To ensure that all products and systems can be configured or adapted with minimum effort to meet the company, international, national and railway-specific RAM standards, and customer RAM requirements.

Safety Engineer Skills and Experience required :
•Membership/working towards membership of a professional body such as the IET, IRSE or one specific to RAMS engineering.
•Understanding the key components of Safety Cases, following the principles of EN 50126, 50128, 50129 and the 'The Yellow Book'.
•A driving ability to construct Safety Cases and other documents that address all issues in a clear, coherent and comprehensive manner and can be easily understood and accepted by non-specialists.
•Good understanding of electrical, electro-mechanical and electronic engineering principles.
•Good understanding of product and system EMC issues.
