My client is a leading rail company who require a CAD GIS Co-ordinator to join the electrification and signalling team in London. This contract role is for 6 months initially with a rate of £200/day. The successful candidate will be working on front end layout plans for projects ranging from the Great Western Railway to High Speed 2. If possible candidates will have 4D experience but this is not essential. You will support the CAD Manager in the design co-ordination of engineering and digital map based data, monitoring the system so that consistent and accurate information is available to all disciplines. It is possible this particular role will develop to ensure the quality of the digital design and hard copy information received to ensure it is fit for the purpose. Experience required: Experience of working on large-scale projects. Design experience in a Railway environment. MicroStation and GIS administrative and set-up skills. Our client is a major provider of Safety Critical and non Safety critical Control Systems for a global market. The Successful candidate will be responsible for changing legacy product in order to accommodate obsolescence and design improvements. It is essential the candidate has experience in making safety/non safety critical judgement to set priority. Experience in electrical and electronic design is essential along with experience in product change control in a safety environment. The role will also include managing third party suppliers to investigate/recommend technical solutions and ensure delivery parameters are met (both time bound and technical). The successful applicant will be self motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision. Have experience managing budgets, take ownership of problems and make technical decisions, liaising with supply chain regarding obsolescence and drive the changes process. The role will involve leading product change, developing design improvements, communicating with technical authorities, project delivery and operations in order to plan and execute product design changes necessary to meet demands across the group. When major changes are required, it will be the responsibility of the Support Engineer to provide a strong business case for the product change and track progress. Key Duties: * Be responsible for planning and implementing change control. * Making design changes to improve product reliability and overcoming obsolescence. * Determining the priority of engineering changes based on business need and safety implications. * Carry out engineering changes on minor electrical/electronic change requests (material changes and obsolescence/minor design improvements to aid “Design For Manufacture”). * Resolve Design changes/obsolescence in a timely manner and liaise with supply chain and relevant technical authorities. Essential Requirements: * 5 years experience in Electronic Design. * Excellent communication skills and an ability to liaise with varying levels of technical staff and suppliers. * Good team working skills. * PC literate and competent in the use of change control software (Matrix one). * Capable of working to targets and time-scales. * Able to working under pressure. * Degree in Electronic Engineering with mechanical knowledge. * Knowledge of Change control processes in a safety environment. * Knowledge of component Standards and associated regulation (ie ROHS and WEEE directives). * Ability to understand engineering drawings and make modifications to BOMs.

Role Description
This role is looking for someone with in the rail industry that has worked on either:
• Mechanical & Electrical
• Electrification & Plant

The main reason behind this is the projects you will be working on vary from Station lighting, Platform illumination, Signalling Power Supplies and Points Heating. As an experienced Design Engineer your role will involve dealing with Network Rail designs on EB procedure so full detailed design.

Projects vary in size from 100k to 10million but more importantly is the type of person needed to fit in to the team. The office is open plan supported with a culture of drive, motivated individuals working to tight deadlines but ultimately wanting to succeed and progress in their careers. This office isn't for the weak or timid as you must be able to hold your own both technically and in personality.

Required Experience
You must have a degree to support your experience of designing with in the railway environment. If you have progressed up from a HNC / HND that is also acceptable. This role will look to support ambitious candidates aiming to achieve Chartered status.
