Job Application and Interview checklist
Before the Interview
- Keep details of the advertised position
- Research role, prospective employer and industry
- Do you know the name of the person(s) interviewing you
- Do you know what the interview will entail i.e. is it a one on one or a panel interview, will there be tests or assessment centres
- Confirm the date and time of your interview
- Plan the journey to the interview and do a dummy run
- Polish your shoes and iron a shirt, appearance counts for a lot
- Prepare any notes i.e. research, answers to questions and re-read your CV
- Check the weather and traffic reports before you set off and leave plenty of time for your journey
- Make sure you have their telephone number and credit on your phone in case you need to contact them on route
At the Interview
- Switch off your mobile phone on arrival
- At the end of the interview ask if they have any further questions or reservations at this stage
- Ask for a time scale for feedback
After the Interview
- If you have any further questions then don't hesitate to get back in contact with the emploeyer, this is a great way of reminding them of who you are
- If you are unsuccessful you can always contact the prospective employer and ask for constructive criticism, this may help you with future interviews
