Employers may want to use a variety of different tests to help them find the right candidate. This section gives you further information on the types of test you might encounter and why employers use them.

The ability and aptitude test


These type of tests allow the employer to measure specific skill sets and gain a good understanding of your existing ability and potential to learn new skills that may be required for the position.

Psychometric tests


A psychometric test is designed to asses a person’s ability or personality in a measured and structured way. There are 3 main types of tests: ability, personality and interest.

Assessment days


An assessment day can take place at the employers office or in a business suite at a hotel. During the day candidates can expect to take part in an array of activities ranging from tests, role plays, workshops and interviews. Don’t ever be daunted by participating in an assessment day, they can be great fun and very rewarding.
